Smoking ban to be enforced in India from Oct 2

Posted by Dr. Smile 1 June, 2008 (7) Comment

The Centre would strictly enforce the ban on smoking in public places from October 2, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Anbumani Ramadoss said.

“An Act on no smoking in public places has been brought out by the Centre two-and-a-half years ago, but it remained only on paper. Now, we have made a modification in the already enforced rule and from October 2, 2008, the modified rule will be enforced strongly across the country,” he said at a function, as part of World Tobacco Day being observed on Saturday.

Elaborating on the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act-2003, he said the Government of India has notified revised Rules on the Prohibition of Smoking in Public Places on May 30, 2008.

Ever Heard of Healthier Smoking???

Posted by Dr. Smile 11 May, 2008 (2) Comment

Electronic cigarette is a healthy alternative cigarette. It feels & looks like regular cigarettes, except it contains aboslutely no tobacco and carcinogens.

I surprised to see the new modernized version of a cigarette; Electronic Cigarette is a device that simulates the functions of a cigarette without the harmful chemicals. it uses a small replacable cartridge filled with a small dose of nicotine and propylene glycol powered by a rechargable battery. When the user inhales on the device, the air flow is detected by a sensor. A microprocessor then activates an atomizer which injects tiny droplets of the liquid into the flowing air and vapourises the liquid. Each cartridge is equivalent to 5-6 regular cigarettes, and it costs less then a toonie each.
