A long week comes to an end with a surprise!

Hello friends, firstly accept my apologies for being absent on the blog without prior intimation. I had to leave for Bangalore on a short notice and i wasn’t finding time to update you guys, was just checking out mails and commenting here through my mobile. It was really very tiring week and i plan to sleep and relax this whole weekend since it started raining heavily in Hyderabad, its been a disastrous weekend claiming more than 40 lives within 24 hours, my sincere prayers for those who have been affected by this.

Coming to the biggest and most surprising news of the week or probably my life, i just won a Asus EEE PC at Nabil’s blogging contest sponsored by Market Leverage. Yeah, its the same Market Leverage i have been aiming to work with. They had sponsored a contest at Nabil aka Enkay’s blog and received very good response. Nabil is an interesting guy coming out with very informative posts, especially for the newbies who dream about getting rich quick.

Market Leverage Ruling the Roost!

The blogging bells are ringing loud and often, thanks to Market Leverage which has come out with some outstanding marketing strategies. Every other blog i visit has a contest sponsored by ML and the blogging arena is just going Ga-Ga, contests look more attractive and appealing now!

It all started when i received a newsletter from Balkhis. Syed was conducting a contest as usual on his blog but this time it had some charm, the prizes ML sponsored were just too good to be true, at least for me Upon browsing through other blogs, i noticed that its not just Syed’s blog they sponsored, they are many other lucky one’s such as Market Leverage Bag of Stuff, Cash Tactics Contest Time, Chad at CDFNetworks. The hype these types of contests receive is just commendable; taking for example Balkhis stats, they were more than 900 comments and 6800 page views per day and leave alone the subscriber base. I wish to offer you all an exciting contest like this at Dental Blogging too!

Indian Medical tourism to earn $1.87 Bn a year by 2012

India is set to earn Rs.80 billion ($1.87 billion) a year in foreign exchange from medical tourism by 2012, according to a study by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham).

With easy visa facilities to overseas patients coupled with best emerging medical infrastructure facilities, India’s medical tourism can become a lead foreign exchange earner and the earnings will grow from the existing Rs.35 billion annually to Rs.80 billion a year by 2012, Assocham president Venugopal N. Dhoot said.

The study on Prospects of Medical Tourism for Higher Forex Earning was done under the supervision of the health committee of Assocham, headed by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital chairman B.K. Rao.

“The primary reasons as to why medical tourism would flourish in India include much lower medical treatment costs for various ailments, such as bone narrow transparent, bye-pass surgery, knee surgery and liver transplant as compared to western countries,” Dhoot said in a statement Monday.

Its Contest Time!!! Suggest Me

Being the first contest on DentalBlogging, i was damn confused about the prizes. Usually what i see around the blogosphere is the prizes are sponsored by many companies and individuals but since mine is quite new and still struggling, i would rather have to go it alone.

Upon much thinking and brain tweaking, i thought i will give out few domains and banner advertising on my blog to the top 3 or five commentators. What say guys?

Recycling False Teeth for Charity

Japan has discovered the latest recyclable item – false teeth!

Denture deposit boxes have appeared in the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka in response to a request by the charity, the Japan Society for the Recycling of Dentures.

The JSRD plans to set up hundreds of false teeth collection boxes in cities across Japan to raise funds for UNICEF.

‘People on average get new dentures every three years, because the condition of their teeth changes,’ explained the charity’s founder Isao Miyoshi.

‘Once the new ones are made, dentists usually give the old ones back to the patients.

‘But most people don’t know what to do with them and they end up keeping them in their drawers. That’s really a waste of something useful.’

When dentures are recycled, the precious metals are extracted and sold.

About 80% of the proceeds are given to charities like UNICEF Japan.

Brushing Teeth with a Computer Game

Scientists have come up with a novel idea to encourage kids to brush their teeth properly.

They’ve created a game with a webcam and basic software similar to a Nintendo Wii.

The ‘Playful Toothbrush’ is the brainchild of scientists at Taiwan University and aims to aid the tiresome task faced by dental professionals and parents everywhere – getting children to brush their teeth effectively.

With the average five year old brushing only a quarter of their teeth, the ‘learning through play’ approach may prove a winner.

LED modules containing three LEDs are mounted onto one end of the toothbrush and a web camera, mounted onto a bathroom mirror, can track this.

The camera uses computer software to track the movements of the toothbrush.

This information is fed as an input into the computer, which displays a game that the scientists have developed.
