1 in 20 patients want to kill their doctors!
Dr. Smile 23 May, 2008
(9) Comment They are god-sent souls who cure people and help in chasing away diseases. But what happens when a doctor becomes patronizing, especially when a person is in pain? Well, the patient feels like ‘killing him’. That’s what a new research suggests.
The urge for a patient to kill his or her doctor is apparently not uncommon, especially among patients who are in pain, undergoing physical rehabilitation or seeking legal compensation for disability.
In the research, conducted by David Fishbain and colleagues at the University of Miami, Florida, it was found that just over 1 in 20 of roughly 800 physical rehabilitation patients admitted feeling like they wanted to murder their physician.
Even amongst a control group, who were not being treated for any condition, slightly fewer than 1 in 50 said they had previously had the same urge.

Medical Art and Animation
Dr. Smile 24 April, 2008
(7) Comment Medical visualization is a universal term that encompasses everything from Medical illustration to 3D Medical Animation and Imaging. Technology driven Medical Illustrators use their artistic skills to produce some of the finest breath taking visualizations. The profession is far more challenging, they just don’t draw detailed anatomical illustrations but translate, visualize, and convey complex scientific information in order to educate anyone from doctors to the general public. If you have ever opened a science textbook, watched a pharma ad, heard of Gray’s Anatomy, or been to a doctor’s office, then you’ve probably witnessed some form of the medical illustration.
Take a look at some of the exciting and dynamic illustrations i managed to collect all these days. Do leave your feedback and ask me about Biomedical Visualization program, there are very few universities offering this program.

Techno-Medical Student
Dr. Smile 14 April, 2008
(9) Comment I had no work other than wandering around medical blogs today morning until i stumbled upon a Medical student Johnny, who’s an active problogger and a techno geek. Another Malaysian friend on my list currently pursuing his medicine in Russia (must be having a jolly ride in the icy climate).
Well, Johnny started blogging in late ‘06, technology being his fave; here you go, these days i see so many medico’s confirming their technology enthusiasm, is it because of the fast and rapid changing environ or either they are bugged up with the medical standards prevailing around the world, either ways its good to see a medico taking part as a techno geek, since full time technology professionals do not even have the chance of entering medical fraternity; pity you guys.

Good News for the Medico’s-Indian Govt to recognise Foreign PG degrees in Medicine
Dr. Smile 16 March, 2008
(4) Comment The Centre would recognise foreign post-graduate degrees in medicine by English speaking countries, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Anbumani Ramadoss said here today. “As a move to encourage Indian doctors who pursue further studies abroad to come back and practice here, we will recognise foreign post-graduate degrees in medicine by English speaking countries, starting with five (countries) to begin with,” he said at the convocation of National Board of Examinations under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The five nations are UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, he said adding it would be followed by Singapore and European countries. “Initially it will be a unilateral recognition.
So, whats next - Indian govt. has finally given some sort of relief for the Medico’s getting trained Internationally. And i hope the few other major countries are added to the list soon. This will definitely be a boost to the International Universities attracting Indian students for the PG program.
