Finally, the much sought upon Beijing Olympics 2008 is here and ready to kick start on Aug 08. The Chinese has put a tremendous amount of effort into putting on great Games for the athletes, pumping in a total of about $40 billion to stage the Games and everybody is eager to see the Games succeed in tapping into one fifth of the world’s population.

Although the Beijing Games have been hit by protests and controversy regarding China’s policies on Tibet and the Darfur region of Sudan as well as the country’s human rights record and pollution concerns, this did not reflect upon the spirit of the games. Unlike run-ups to recent Olympics, Beijing’s preparations for August have kept to plan, and some stadiums and infrastructure have even been completed ahead of schedule. All is now ready to go.

Take a look at the schedule which was made public today:

Olympics and the Islamic Connection!

Posted by User ImageDr. Smile 3 April, 2008 (2) Comment

Islam had been under the beat of corrupt politicians and the so called leaders of super aamir3.jpg power nations from decades, plunging into one controversy to another, yet withstanding bravely due to its moral and dedicated teachings of our Prophet (PBUH). This time its circled between the famous bollywood personality Aamir Khan and Beijing Olympics. I recently stumbled upon a letter addressed to Aamir Khan by B Raman on Rediff.com

Aamir Khan, one among the 6 Olympic torch bearers from India had been getting tons of requests worldwide not to carry the Olympic torch due to the Chinese aggression and immoral attitude towards the fellow Tibetans. Aamir has given exceptional replies on his blog towards this issue, here’s an excerpt:

Over the last few days I have received several requests not to participate in the Olympic Torch Relay. Requests through members of my family, personal friends, people who are associated with the Tibetan struggle, and my blog. I have gone through and read each and every letter, message and post pertaining to this issue.
