Orgasm and Indian Men, Poles Apart!
Dr. Smile 18 June, 2008 Indian men may claim to have a healthy sex-life, but a new international survey claims that orgasm often eludes them.
Only 46 per cent of Indians manage to achieve orgasm almost every time they have sex but their counterparts in Italy, Mexico, Spain and South Africa are the most likely to climax, with 66 per cent of them managing to hit it right almost every time, claims the latest ‘Durex Sexual Wellbeing Global Survey’.
However, the Indian men can find solace in the fact that their Asian counterparts from China and Hong Kong (both 24 per cent) are the least likely to achieve orgasm every time, who are closely followed by Japanese (27 per cent).
The survey further points out that the more orgasms one has, the better he feels in general.
Fifty-eight per cent of those who usually achieve orgasm were content with the emotional aspects of their sex life compared with the 29 per cent of those who rarely climax, the survey conducted among 26,000 people in 26 countries said.
Indian men too seem to second the global trend with 84 per cent of them who frequently achieve orgasm, feeling at ease sexually and 72 per cent of men being happy with their psychological health.
Though men around the globe might not enjoy very high orgasm, the survey points out that women get a worse deal when it comes to getting climax during sex, with only 26 per cent feeling so.
“Indian society lacks openness. Moreover, sense of mutuality between partners is low too. Orgasm is not just connected to plain sex but is deeply connected to awareness and knowledge about it,” Samir Parikh, Psychiatrist, Max Hospital said.
Sexual health expert Kevan Wylie, adds, “While orgasms are not the be all and end all of sex, regularly achieving orgasms improves our emotional and overall well being, as well as our bond with our partner. It can also help to reduce stresses.”
R Srinivasan, Vice President Marketing, TTK LIG Limited said, “The survey shows that having a fulfilling sex life contributes to our overall sense of well being and general health, and that orgasms can play an important part in achieving this.”

It was really a nice share. I never thought that orgasm was such an important thing in life. I will ensure that I reach that everytime and try to increase that percent in the next survey.

I agree with what Dr Samir Parikh has said. Main aspect is the society and till the time it stays rigid and closed, nothing can be positively achieved.
I have seen many men do not believe in getting an orgasm; it made me think, you know. Why they say so? At the same time, they say that they have very good satisfactory sex life.
What do they mean?
Well yea i do think its mostly because this concept isn’t known to many men. And i think they don’t last that long . I mean they don’t try to just usually they need thier own satisfaction . And that’s a bit selfish well i don;t know cause indian gals are a bit shy . So they might not want it either. So odds speak and you have your results
Indian Guys do have the tendency to get good mates but yeah its a long way fro them to satisfy Conservative Indian women ! .
