| A recent clinical study (Ziebolz et al. 2008) confirms the effectiveness of the chlorhexidine-containing protective varnish Cervitec Plus from Ivoclar Vivadent. The application of Cervitec Plus resulted in a significant, long-term reduction of dental hypersensitivity. The study involved 120 test persons with hypersensitive teeth. Either Cervitec Plus, Cervitec or a placebo was applied to the teeth. The efficacy of the treatment was subsequently assessed by means of air blast sensitivity. Cervitec Plus significantly reduced pain intensity and this reduction lasted for the entire 90 days of the study. No reduction of sensitivity was reported in the placebo group. All test persons said that the treatment was very pleasant. | |
