The world’s Top 10 Spammers!

The world’s top 10 spamming countries account for 55 per cent of the total global spam volume, says Secure Computing, a public company that provides enterprise security solution, in its Internet Threats Report.

Spam is the unwanted e-mail messages that you find in your mail box. It is primarily electronic junk mail sent to your e-mail account or even your cellphone.

Spammers are continuing to use pop culture and current events (US elections, Olympics, etc) to entice end users into responding or clicking on links whose sole purpose is to download malware.

The Secure Research report says that there was a 45 per cent increase in the average number of porn sites found daily since January 2008.

50 pre cent of all Web sites’ content is now in non-English languages, and this too is adding to the growing spam volume.

Google Adsense Referrals Retiring This August

Google recently acquired the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate operations in March 2008 and hence terminating the Adsense Referrals program this August last week.

They have officially announced this and advised all the users to remove the referral code from their websites or alternatively sign up with their partner, DoubleClick.

However the rules are slightly changed, previously we were allowed 3 content ad units plus referral ad units on a single page, but now you can have only 3 ad units in total.

AdSense for content ads: If you have less than three AdSense
for content ad units on a page, you may wish to replace the
referral ad units with standard AFC ad units.

If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August.

Yahoo! India launches Glue Pages Beta

Yahoo! India, a leading global Internet company, today announced the launch of a new concept for Yahoo! India Search called Glue Pages Beta, available exclusively at www.yahoo.in. This new search experience collates and integrates the most relevant information from across the Web onto a single “visual” search results page. Glue Pages Beta, which aggregates text, images, and video content, is available for select search terms across categories such as health, sports, entertainment, travel, technology, and finance.

Designed to save time by offering a new way to find answers quickly, Glue Pages Beta is ideal for topics with broad coverage across a variety of information sources. For example, a search for “diabetes” combines results from HowStuffWorks, Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Health, Yahoo! Answers, and blogs. A search for “Aishwarya Rai” would include biographical quick-facts, videos, music tracks, photos, and content from Yahoo! Answers.

Hard Luck PR Update!

Well, there’s not so good news at the front; had a server breach with many of my sites defaced by a Chinese hacker, then the PR update with few downgrades resulting in more anxiety and trauma.

A Chinese hacker managed to sneak in to one of my hostgator accounts through ftp injecting javascript malicious codes on all the files hosted, many of my blogs and directories were defaced although Hostgator provided me instant support blocking those IP’s and in cleaning up the malicious codes. I now have a huge task ahead to update the files and the scripts. Wish i had a magic wand to take care of all these things.

About the PR update, Google hasn’t been too impressed by DentalBlogging i feel giving it no PR in this update, i am confused of what and where did i left behind. Few of my other sites and directories were effected but to my surprise many of the parked domains received PR2.
