Is the end of Page Rank near???

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 30 November, 2007 (6) Comment

Google Labs are experimenting with a new style of search result customizations: digg-style voting buttons that allow users to customize their search experience. If the experiment is a success, it’s conceivable that the results of such voting could be folded back into the general search results, complementing and potentially even replacing the PageRank algorithm.

Google search results with digg-style voting

From the experiment’s description page:

This experiment lets you influence your search experience by adding, moving, and removing search results. When you search for the same keywords again, you’ll continue to see those changes.

Google’s I like this voting button Like it?
This button will move the result to the top of the page and add this orange marker (fig. 1a) next to it so you can easily recognize it. The result(s) you promote will appear at the top whenever you search for the same keyword(s) in the future.

Dental Pulp Tissue

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 27 November, 2007 (4) Comment

This is neat image of a vital dental pulp. The tooth was diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis, acute apical periodontitis and cracked tooth syndrome. RCT was completed prior to crowning the tooth. Once in a while, the pulp will come out in one piece. This actually shows the tissue from the pulp chamber all the way down to the apical portion.

Vertical Root Fracture

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 27 November, 2007 (4) Comment

Vertical root fracture (VRF) can be one of the most challenging parts of endodontic diagnosis. It is often only diagnosed after you have ruled out everything else.

Since treatment of a VRF is extraction, it is important to have an accurate diagnosis. The most certain way to diagnose a vertical root fracture is to see it. This is easily done with a microscope internally. However, that takes significant chair time.

Here are a few tricks that will help you diagnose a VRF.

RADIOGRAPHS:
Look closely at this radiograph. You can see a dark line running parallel to the canal. This dark line will appear if the fracture has caused the root to separate or if you just get lucky with the horizontal angle of your radiograph (just make sure it is not a missed canal).

Get Bright with AdBrite!

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 27 November, 2007 (3) Comment

A few weeks earlier, after having one of my sites banned from Adsense, I decided to test a number of alternate advertising programs. AdBrite was the first program that I put my hands on. AdBrite sign up is quick and painless.

I ran AdBrite ads for about a week, and my click through rate was close to ten times lower than my AdSense click through rate for the exact same space. Revenue per click was half of what I was earning with AdSense.

Despite my lack of success with AdBrite, I think that it could work very well for some larger sites. If advertisers are frequently asking for space on your site, AdBrite could be a hassle free way to manage your inventory.

Earn Commission

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 26 November, 2007 (5) Comment

If your site has a good potential traffic of a particular niche, try using WidgetBucks.

After exploring the program for almost 7 days, things might not be as rosy as it seems. Widgetbucks has few good reasons to stay on.

- Cost per clicks is high compared to other advertising network (for some popular categories)

- Free $25 sign up bonus

- Easy to set up ads from the template design to inserting the HTML codes

- Visual appeal of advertisements. Visitors are more likely to click on the ads.

- Also a good alternative if you get banned on Adsense.

However they are few drawbacks as expected, the statistics are not real time and the referral commission is only valid for 12 months after the new member of yours join.

Orthodontist

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (3) Comment

Orthodontics comes from two Greek words…
“orthos,” meaning right or correct, and
“dons,” meaning tooth.
To have orthodontic treatment is to have
“corrected teeth.”
For many people orthodontics treatment is a highly skilled field of dentistry with which they have had no experience. Because this is so often the case we want to start with the basic facts about orthodontics.

Our reason for this is that appreciation of anything comes from a thorough understanding of the subject, whatever it may be.

You already know that braces straighten teeth. But what you may not know is that a beautiful smile is just one of the benefits orthodontics has to offer. Bringing teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment not only produces a great smile, but a healthy one as well. Straight teeth simply function better and are easier to clean.

Pedodontist

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (5) Comment

The experiences of a child during the formative years can go a long way in formulating the individuals personality as an adult. One of the multitude of experiences is the visit to the dentist. Somehow the dentist is always caricatured as a pain imparting tooth puller.

A PEDODONTIST is a dentist specialized in handling children, in obviating the fear in a child’s mind that is usually created by seeing the complex gadgetry and plethora of drills all around. The PEDODONTIST is specially trained in winning the child’s confidence, making the child aware of the responsibility of looking after his/her teeth and the importance of a healthy mouth.

Oral Surgeon

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (2) Comment

Dentists are also known as Dental Surgeons. Routine dentistry rarely requires dentists to carry out any major surgical procedures in the conventional sense. There is hardly any cutting of soft tissue and stitching done by dentists in the dental office.

An ORAL SURGEON is a specialized dentist who carries out major surgical work primarily involving the upper and lower jaw bones and to a certain extent, the mid face. There are a vast array of circumstances which require surgical intervention. An example is injuries caused during an accident. It is very common for hits on the face to lead to a fracture of the upper or lower jaw bones, technically known as the Maxilla and the Mandible. Minor fractures may be treated without any surgery but generally in an accident fracture require a surgical procedure.

Cosmetic Dentist

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (3) Comment

Science and technology constantly evolve and always broaden the scope of all knowledge. Dentistry has also evolved and a one aspect of dentistry has grown into a discipline of its own known as aesthetic dentistry.

The tremendous improvement of materials used in dentistry has made it possible for us to now replicate tooth structure very minutely in terms of shape, color, texture, size, physical properties and to a certain extent even chemical properties. This advent of material sciences now gives us the dentist, enough leeway to play around with the dentition and alter its structure and relationship to the face. A dentist who had delved deep into this aspect and can bring about a total change in a persons appearance just by modifying the shape, size and color of the teeth is an COSMETIC DENTIST.

Endodontist

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (0) Comment

Advancing technologies leads to specialization and super specialization. One such specialization of Dentistry if the field of Endodontics.

Originating from the latin word “ENDO” which means inside and “ODONT” which means the tooth, the science of Endodontics is the study of the problems inside the tooth and an ENDODONTIST is the specialist who treats the inside of the tooth. The outermost layer of a tooth is the Enamel which covers the Dentine. In the core of the tooth is the pulp which has blood vessels supplying nutrients to the tooth and a nerve which provides the sensations. These enter the tooth from the apex of the root and curve up to the pulp chamber which is literally in the centre of the crown.

Periodontist

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (3) Comment

The field of dentistry has become more diverse and specialized in the last half century. There are, today, eight recognized streams of dentistry with post graduate specialization, and at least two or three knocking on the doors for such a status.

A PERIODONTIST is a dental specialist who looks after your gums and other supporting structures of the teeth. Teeth are embedded in a bony socket in the upper and lower jaw bones, known as the maxilla and mandible respectively. The roots of the teeth, which are embedded in the bone, are coated with a substance known as the cementum. This cementum unites the teeth to the bone with the help of a shock absorbing ligament known as the periodontal ligament.

Prosthodontist

Posted by User ImageDr. Teeth 25 November, 2007 (1) Comment

If maintained well and an individual does not have a genetic predisposition towards some major dental problem, teeth can last a lifetime. But this is not always true. Human being tend to lose a few teeth at some point of time in life and a significant number lose all their teeth in advancing middle age.

A PROSTHODONTIST is a specialist in replacing missing teeth. The large majority of cases requiring either full dentures or partially missing teeth can be treated by general dentists. A PROSTHODONTIST is usually required for the specifically difficult cases of full dentures and complex rehablitation of even partial replacements.

A PROSTHODONTIST is of immense value in planning such cases and working out proper designs which will last a life time. Replacements can be fixed or removable. Fixed replacements are generally termed as bridges. Bridges take support of existing teeth and replace missing teeth. If natural teeth do not exist on either side of the missing teeth, a bridge cannot be made and the standard alternative is to make a removable partial denture.
